Geschiedenis
De Recht Boomssloot is al zo'n vijf eeuwen oud. De gracht is vernoemd naar de 16e-eeuwse scheepsbouwer en burgemeester Cornelis Pieterszoon Boom. Boom, die zelf aan op Recht Boomssloot 1-5 woonde, liet rond 1530 twee sloten, de Recht Boomssloot en Krom Boomssloot, verbreden tot grachten om zo zijn scheepswerf op de Lastage met het IJ te verbinden.

Bereikbaarheid
De woning is uitstekend bereikbaar, met zowel het openbaar vervoer als de auto.

The apartment is on the second storey on Recht Boomsloot, a quiet street along a canal around the corner from lively Nieuwmarkt. The apartment has three windows across its width on both the front and the back: the living room has a fabulous view over the water, and the view from the back of the apartment overlooks the industrial buildings of a recently renovated old cog factory.

Location
Recht Boomssloot is situated in the very heart of central Amsterdam in the Lastage neighbourhood (near Nieuwmarkt). It’s around the corner from the vibrant Nieuwmarkt, with all its lively cafés and restaurants and the farmer’s market on Saturdays. In walking distance are the Amsterdam Public Library, the Amsterdam Conservatory, the NEMO Science Centre and Waterlooplein, where the Dutch National Opera is located.

History
Recht Boomssloot dates back about five centuries. The canal was named after the 16th-century shipbuilder and mayor Cornelis Pieterszoon Boom. Boom, who actually lived at Recht Boomssloot 1-5, had two ditches expanded into canals around 1530, Recht Boomssloot and Krom Boomssloot, so he could connect his shipyard on Lastage to the IJ.

Accessibility
The apartment is easily accessible, both by public transport and by car.
Amsterdam Central Station is within walking distance (10 min.), and there is an underground station near Nieuwmarkt with various lines to Central Station. There are also bus connections from Prins Hendrikkade.
The location vis-a-vis the IJ Tunnel, the Piet Hein Tunnel and the Coen Tunnel is extremely convenient, so much so that you will be on the motorway within 10 minutes.
